Assault or Violent Crime

Assault or other violent crime

Assault is a physical attack or a threat that causes fear of an attack. Even if the attack results in no physical injury to the victim, it can still be considered as an assault.

Following a crime of violence it is common to experience:-

  • Physical Injuries
  • Having to take time off work or education
  • Avoiding certain locations
  • Feeling isolated or alone
  • Feeling vulnerable or angry
  • Loss of self confidence
  • Fear of repeat victimisation

The Victim Care and Advice Service will provide you with professional, personalised and independent support to help you cope and recover from the effects of a crime. A Victim Care Officer will meet with you and discuss your concerns or any questions that you might have. We will then work together to  address those concerns, answer those questions and reduce the impact of the crime.
