Sexual Assault or Rape

The Victim Care and Advice Service are not commissioned to provide support for victims of Rape or other Sexual Violence offences but support can be provided by the following specialist services: –

Durham

 

‘The Meadows’ Sexual Assault Referral Centre

The Meadows Sexual Assault Referral Centre aims to provide a sensitive and comprehensive service to residents of County Durham and Darlington who have experienced rape or sexual assault. This free service is available to both females and males.

 

Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service (RASACC)

The centre offers free confidential counselling and support to women who have suffered any form of sexual violence.

 

Halo

The Halo Project Charity is a new and innovative project based in the North East of England, which supports victims of honour based violence and forced marriages by providing specialist support for victims and advice for agencies.

Sexual Assault and Referral Centre (SARC) Teesside

The Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Teesside provides 24/7 support to anyone who has experienced rape and other sexual offences, whether this has happened recently or in the past.

Specially trained staff can explain and discuss all the options. Services include:

  • Confidential Advice
  • Anonymous report to police or advocacy on your behalf with direct report to police
  • Specialist medical examinations
  • Specialist forensic examination, including non-intimate samples
  • Storage of forensic samples, giving you time to decide on reporting to police
  • Support through Police interview
  • Risk and need assessment to make sure you are safe
  • Referrals to external agencies with the appropriate consent for specialist counselling and therapeutic support
  • Ongoing support from an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) from ARCH North East

We will support you regardless of whether or not you want to report to the Police and are committed to ensuring that you receive the support you need, whatever you decide to do.

This pioneering initiative, based in Middlesbrough works to enable young people to exit and recover from sexual exploitation.

 

ARCH North East                                                                                

Arch North East is a registered charity that offers free and confidential counselling and support to people aged 14 and over, who have been affected by rape and sexual abuse at any time in their lives. Whether you have been a direct victim, or it has affected your partner or your family, Arch North East can offer support.
